QUALITY, CARTIER RETAILED Cased C1920’s French Gentleman’s Nogent Folding Multi Blade Pocket Knife Blade Marked ‘A. Bain Fant, 2 Rue Taitrout, Paris’ With Antique Ivory Scales. Sn 12741 - 12741

The Nogent factory was founded in 1923 in the Champagne village of Biesles France - an area steeped in history where the tradition of manufacturing knives has been carried out since the middle ages. This is a quality made Nogent folding pocket knife with undamaged antique ivory scales retailed by the world renowned jewellers Cartier (founded 1847 Paris). The knife has 3 single edged blades which are undamaged and have staining consistent with age (one 3", one 2" and one 1 ¾”). The large blade is crisply marked by the French factory ‘Nogent’ and has a roundel marked ‘A. Bain Fant, 2 Rue Taitrout, Paris’ (illustrated inset in image 2). The knife also has folding tools comprising of, a cork screw, scissors, screwdriver, and 1 ¾” triangular spike. The knife is fitted with steel lanyard ring. It is contained in its original Cartier tooled red leather covered case with gilt decoration and hinged lid with brass press button catch. The surface of the leather has some scuffs and staining but is intact. The case is lined in padded silk and snugly fits the knife. The silk lining has a nice gold Cartier stamp which is illustrated inset in image 2. The lining is intact but has some staining consistent with age.
