A Superb and very long ITALIAN single barrel flintlock pistol manufactured by GIOVANI POETA circa 1700-1720. The 12.5 inch brass barrel is engraved on top with the barrel makers name LAZARO LAZARINO. GIOVANI POETA worked in Brescia circa 1690-1720. The brass lock-plate also engraved with the makers name "GIOVANI POETA". The butt cap, side-plate, ramrod pipes and trigger guard all of brass and finely embossed with faceted decoration. The pistol in excellent condition. Barrel length 14 inches. Some minor dings and scuffs, otherwise a superb example of this fine Italian gun-makers quality work from the 18th century. Overall length approx 20 inches. Ref 3730.
