A British police force served Hong Kong since shortly after the island was established as a colony in 1841. During World War II, Japan occupied Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Police Force was temporarily disbanded. The 1950s saw the commencement of Hong Kong's 40-year rise to global prominence, during which time the Hong Kong Police tackled many issues that have challenged Hong Kong's stability. The Royal Hong Kong Police Force (RHKPF) reverted to its former name Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) after the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong from the United Kingdom to People's Republic of China in 1997. This is a very good .38 Calibre Smith & Wesson Military & Police 1914 patent revolver marked ‘HK’ to The Hong Kong Police. It has a 4" barrel & fixed sights. The pistol has undamaged wood grips with S&W roundels. The butt is holed for military/police lanyard ring (absent). It is stamped along the barrel with the Smith & Wesson, manufacturer's name and 1914 patent detail. The right side of the frame has the 'S&W’ Trade mark logo and ‘Made In USA’. The grip frame & cylinder are stamped with serial number 664601 and its has other numbers (illustrated). The grip frame is stamped ‘HKP’ to the Hong Kong Police above armoury weapon number ‘77’. Deactivated to very early UK specification in 1993 the pistol has a pinned barrel, open, cut cylinders that will accept inert rounds and it cocks and dry fires in both single & double action. The pistol comes with 6 x inert deactivated rounds of Winchester .38 special ammunition. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 20067:26
