Create my profile now!An excellent, original and very ornate 19th Century French Fire Officer’s Helmet. The helmet has the early type large brass shell, large central brass helmet plate in form of a crowned Cockerel standing on ball with floral decoration and flags behind. The plate has a lower scroll ‘SRS POMPIERS DE ST QUENTIN LE VERGER’ (Saint-Quentin-le-Verger is a commune in the Marne department in north-eastern France). The peak has a floral spray relief and crossed fire axes. It has large brass straps with large side rosette bosses and a brass patterned top combe. The combe has holes which may have been to accommodate a combe plume which is absent. The plume socket to the side has its original removable blue feathered plume. The helmet has some denting to the shell consistent with age and service use. The helmet has no liner and is approx UK size 6. The price for this ornate piece includes UK delivery. Sn 20424
