The town in the Thuringian Forest has been considered the European centre of handgun manufacturing since the Thirty Years’ War. Haenel has a long tradition in Suhl: the royal Prussian rifle factory commissioner Carl Gottlieb Haenel came to Suhl with his idea of industrial weapons production. Since 1840, rifles have been developed and manufactured here under the Haenel brand. The Haenel arrow has always stood for novel functional, design and manufacturing principles, for precision and robustness. Introduced in 1933 as ‘Schmeisser bolt action repeater’ and then sold under the Haenel name. 38 ¼ “ in length and Marked "HAENEL SPORT MODEL 33 JUNIOR/SCHMEISSER'S PATTENTED" with the Haenel arrow trademark. It is a spring action gun with bolt type cocking lever on top of action. Marketed as a training rifle with Military styling and patterned loosely after the Mauser K98K service rifle. It has a military style stock & handguard. 6 Round (in 1939 this was available from Kynoch who sold the shot in small tubes containing around 200) force-fed detachable mag An adjustable front and rear sight. This is an excellent example of a pre-WW2 Sport Model 33 BB Gun made by Haenel. It comes with a rare leather sling. The gun is fully operational. It comes with an adjustable front sight hood. It has retained most of its bluing. The full stock is in good aged condition with only notable marks to the left hand side of the stock.
