The scabbard mounted with the regimental badge of St Andrew holding a cross, set between two thistles & the regimental number 42. Probably mid 19th century. The Pommel set in the top with a Cairngorm stone, the scabbard mounts of gilt brass. The numbers 42 in silver below St. Andrew. The dirk is complete with its matching bi-knife and fork. The black wooden hilt finely carved overall with basket work design and inset with tiny brass studs. Complete in its leather scabbard with matching gilt brass mounts embossed with thistles. Single edged blade showing hardly any signs of wear or use, the back edge of blade is scalloped. The leather scabbard although complete has signs of use and slight wear. No visible makers marks. Overall length 17 inches. Blade length 10.5 inches. A nice rare untouched piece in quite good condition. Ref 2672.
