A rare Napoleonic era French Military Officer's Flintlock Pistol dated 1813. Manufactured at the French Military arsenal at Charleville and dating from the time of the Napoleonic Wars circa 1813-1815. Rounded brass military skull-crusher butt-cap, matching brass military style trigger-guard, fore-end band and side-plate. Action in excellent working order. Complete with its steel ramrod. The lock engraved "Manufacture Imp de Charleville". The barrel is dated 1813 - (just two years before the battle of Waterloo in June 1815.) This type of heavy calibre flintlock pistol were carried by French infantry and cavalry officers during the era of the Napoleonic campaigns of the late 18th-early 19th century. Overall length 14.5 inches. Calibre approx .70 cal. A few minor old dings to woodwork. In excellent condition and good working order. Quite likely it was carried at the battle of Waterloo? Ref 2964.
