Manufactured in 1863. Serial number 154393. ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK U. S. AMERICA. Marked Colts patent to the side of frame. Overall length approx 14 inches. Extremely crisp working action. In excellent condition retaining most of it's original finish. When the 1851 Navy was produced it soon found a ready market. The Colt Navy was exhibited at the Great Exhibition in London in October 1851. They proved to be so poplar that Colt later established an armoury in London, from which he supplied thousands of Navy model revolvers to the British government as well as individual officers private purchases for use in the 1853–56 Crimean War. This is a superb example of a rare U.S. Colt 1851 Navy pistol in excellent condition retaining most of its original finish.
