Description

Fine English .275" (7x57mm) Rifle, Very High Quality, Classic design, Sleek, Lightweight.

Made in 1939 by John Rigby of Sackville Street, London for Viscount Ridley and then purchased by the current owner in the mid Seventies, this gun has had occasional use for stalking in the UK and 3 trips to Africa.

The exterior blacking on the barrel and action is in very good condition showing a minor loss around the muzzle and to the rear of the front sight. There are mounts for sling fitted. The barrel is signed 'John Rigby 43 Sackville Street London'.

The original front sight is present. The rear sight has been removed to make way for the scope. and is included. The rear sight has a fixed 100 yds and two fold up leaves, one each for 300 yds and 400 yds. The fitting is in excellent condition.

The bore is bright and has very well defined rifling with no internal blemishes. The crown is in excellent condition with no marks or pitting.

The bolt shows a minor loss of finish but is in otherwise excellent condition. The bolt face and the extractor are unmarked.

The trigger is crisp and breaks very cleanly. The safety has been changed for a quieter 'Push' rather than 'Flip' version and the original is included.

The stock is in remarkably good condition, showing only some minor marks that add to the gun's character. The current owner tells me that the stock has had a crack professionally repaired and this is barely evident towards the rear of the fore-end checkering.

The scope is a German Docter Optic 1.5-6x42M VZF. The image is clear and bright with a wide band duplex reticule and a good range of dioptre adjustment for spectacle wearers.

Complete with the original Rigby rifle case bearing the gun's serial number.

Can be seen anytime in Alton, Hampshire or sent to your local Firearms Dealer from £35.

Can be exported outside of the UK, at additional cost, providing the buyer first obtains an Import License and other necessary documentation.
