Create my profile now!This is an Infantry Rangefinder from WWII used by the infantry. Designed for P.I.L. (position in line) navigational and general purposes. This Rangefinder was made in Canada to support the British war effort. This rangefinder ii contained in its original wooden transit chest. The range finder has manufacturer plate ‘Research Enterprises Ltd Canada By Arrangement With Barr & Stroud Glasgow Ltd Glasgow’ and identification plate ‘Rangefinder No.12 MK VI 1944’ together with serial number and 1931-35 patents (illustrated). There is also a later 1952 civilian Christmas gift presentation plate (illustrated). The instrument retains its original green paint finish, folding handles and lens covers with retaining straps. The optics function as they should. The wooden chest is in excellent condition with all straps and catches in good working order. Internally the case is fitted to hold the instrument securely. The case contains a tool / rod. The exterior of the chest has its original ‘Charles Franks Glasgow’ supplier’s label and original period Scottish postage stamps.
