The sword is based on the 1845 Infantry Pattern sword retaining the old style hilt with a 1897 pattern blade.
The fullered blade is double edged towards the tip and is decorated on one side with floral etchings, Crown and the Rifle brigade badge.
On the other side can be seen Queen’s Victoria monogram beneath the Crown.
There is no manufacturer’s mark.
The grip is made of black copper wired shagreen and the hilt is made of chromed steel.
The sword comes with its wood covered with brown leather scabbard and its leather knot.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade length is 32 ½ inches (82 cm) and the overall length of the sword is 38.25 inches (97 cm).
The sword in its scabbard length is 39 ½ inches (100.3 cm).
It weighs 1.5 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The sword is in good condition for its age with some nicks on the edge and the expected amount of darkening.
The hilt aged and lost some of its chrome.
The grip lost part of its wiring and has some wear on one side.
As seen in the photos the leather scabbard has some amount of wear.
