An excellent example George V 1897 Pattern Royal Engineers Pattern Sword by Mole complete with its brown leather scabbard, frog, suspension straps and belt.
The grip is made from brown snakeskin and is held together by metal wire. The basket is fashioned with the royal engineers pattern and presents the royal cypher of King George V, above rests the King’s crown.
The fuller of the blade is etched with floral decorations, the royal cypher and imperial crown. The blade has a proof mark star and an cartuche marked eith the retailer's name "C BOYTON & SON CLERKENWELL E.C.". The spine is serial numbered 2506 by Mole.
This sword was used by Capt. W. B. Willcox R.E.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade measures at 83cm (32 1/2 inches).
The overall length of the sword in the scabbard is 102 cm (40 inches).
~ Condition ~
Appart from some minimum age-wear the piece is excellent for its age.
The frog, suspension straps and belt are all in excellent condition. Overall, it is a beautiful piece.
