Description

Boxed, BSA Airsporter ‘S’ Stutzen ‘BSA Piled Arms Centenary 1982 One Of One Thousand’ .177 Calibre Under Lever Commemorative Air Rifle Number C0852 With Correct Centenary BSA 4x40 Telescopic Sight, Certificate Of Issue & Centenary Leather Carry Case. - 19590

During the Game Fair of 1982 held at Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire BSA launched a centenary air rifle to commemorate the now famous ‘piled arms’ trademark of BSA (although the Company was established in 1861 it was not until 1882 that the trademark was introduced). Based on the Airsporter S with a new ¾ length stutzen stock the centenary air rifles were produced in a strict production number of 1,000 rifles. Serial numbers of these rifles ran from C0001 to C1000. Accessories that accompanied these rifles included a 4x40 magnification telescopic sight & padded leather case (see page 59 of The Collector’s Guide To Air Rifles By Hiller). This is an excellent example of the centenary edition set in .177 calibre. The rifle measures 45” overall with a 19 ½” barrel. The rifle has an undamaged ¾ stutzen walnut stock with contoured cheek piece and rosewood fore end cap. The stock has a finely chequered wrist and fore stock panels for grip and is fitted with sling swivel lugs & a rubber recoil pad the end of which bears the BSA stacked rifles logo. The weapon's barrel is stamped 'BSA Guns England .177 Cal' also with the BSA stacked rifles logo. The left side of the barrel is stamped with the correct limited edition serial number 'CO852'. It has a ramp blade fore sight, adjustable rear sight & telescopic sight grooves. The top of the air cylinder has the correct commemorative script highlighted in gold ‘BSA Piled Arms Centenary 1982 One Of One Thousand’. The weapon's metal work is in excellent undamaged condition and retains all of its original finish. The weapon loads and fires with a strong spring action. It is complete with its original BSA Centenary cardboard box with BSA labelling & Centenary edition accessories consisting of its BSA 4x40 telescopic sight marked with BSA and magnification detail (the optics of the sight are excellent and the lenses are fitted with removable see through protector covers), limited edition certificate of issue numbered ‘CO852’ & padded leather carry case with shoulder strap and carry handle (one carry handle is absent). The case is clean and undamaged & has the correct BSA centenary ink stamp. In the box is the rifles telescopic sight box, original factory test label, illustrated parts / instructions leaflets and cleaning rod. The price for this limited edition BSA centenary set includes UK delivery. NB As a post 1939 air rifle the restrictions of the Crime Reduction Act apply to the sale and delivery of this item.
