The early pistols had a beavertail extension that curved down over the web of the hand (such as this example); later guns also had an extension, but it was straight. The trigger blade is thin and elegant – looking exactly like a firearm trigger. In fact, there’s nothing about the LP53 that doesn’t look right, which is why the movie posters for early James Bond films (Sean Connery)‘From Russia with Love’) show him holding an air pistol instead of his service PPK. The story is that the photographer used the air pistol instead of Bond’s service (at the time) Walther PPK because they were in England where the laws concerning firearms are more restrictive. That could be true, though the LP53 is much larger than a PPK and makes a bolder statement. This LP53 has a Walther provided cocking aid that fits over the muzzle of the gun to protect the hand from the front sight. The pistol also comes with a cleaning rod and another inserts for the front and rear sights. This in addition to the insert that comes installed with the pistol. All of these items came with the pistol in a brown cardboard Walther box from new. The serial number is ‘007743’ which dates the pistol to around 1956. The metalwork has a few marks conducive with its age *see images* the plastic grips are in excellent condition with no splits or cracks. The box is in fair condition with one end that appears to have been repaired-well. The pistol cocks and fires perfectly with a strong spring action. The price includes UK delivery. NB As a post 1939 Air Pistol the restrictions of the Crime Reduction Act apply to the sale & delivery of this item. 21373.
