Create my profile now!These are an original, complete transit cased WW1 British WD Rabbit or Donkey Ears Stereoscopic Telescope with accessories & original tripod used by British forces in forward observation / trench deployment in WW1 and WW2. The heavy brass instrument has original enamel green finish with adjustable eyepieces. All optics are fully functional. The casing is crisply marked with WD arrows, model detail and what looks like optics symbols (illustrated). The instruments detachable green enamelled brass tripod mount which has WD mark, maker mark ‘Ross London’, 1916 date and model designation (illustrated). The mount has the correct clamps and graduated dial. The instrument comes with its original wood tripod with metal fittings & adjustable legs. The legs have spiked ends and have original green enamel paint. A webbing strap secures the legs together for transport. The tripod has a metal plate with model designation ‘Stand Instrs No.28 MK 1’ and has serial number ‘2286’. The tripod fully extended measures 53”. The scope itself without mount attached measures 15” height and the detachable mount itself measures 9” height. The original heavy wood transit case has a hinged lid, 2 hinged hook fasteners (one attachment lug for one of the hooks is absent from the body of the case) and 2 iron carry handles. The lid of the case has stenciled model designation (illustrated). He inside of the case is fitted to contain the scope, tripod mount and accessories which include a number of spare WD marked lens filters & 2 brass lens shades.
