Create my profile now! This is a scarce ceremonial spike bayonet as used by Britain, Australia and Canada with a ball welded to the tip of the blade. This was to stop the flag or colours catching on the sharp during parades, etc. Some bayonets merely had the sharp tip removed where as others had a cap or ball fixed to the point. This example has 39 on the socket together with a broad arrow over D. See Skennerton item B271 page 224 and item C12 on page 307 for illustrations. For obvious reasons, the bayonet does not have a scabbard but for the collector of British and Commonwealth bayonets it is an essential bayonet for a complete collection. Price includes UK delivery.
