Create my profile now!On June 4th 1940 this badge was introduced by Grandadmiral Erich Raeder, the Oberbelchlshaber der Kriegsmarine, during the battle of Narvik. It was initially to reward the crews under the command of Commadore Bonte involved in the battle. In an order dated 22 October 1940, awards and authorisations for the wear of the badge were extended to crew members of other vessels that could be described as ‘destroyers’ including torpedo boats and E-boats.
