The British version of the successful Belgium FN FAL Self Loading Rifle (SLR) was designated L1A1 and manufactured by Enfield, Birmingham Small Arms (BSA), Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF) and ROF Fazakerley. They were also made under licence in Australia by Lithgow. The 7.62x51mm NATO calibre, L1A1 SLR served the British and Australian Armed Forces from 1954 until approximately 1994. The L1A1 saw service in all major theatres of War during that period including The Suez Crisis, Malayan Emergency, Aden, Vietnam, Cambodia, The Northern Ireland Troubles & Rhodesian Bush War to the Falklands and Gulf Wars. This Enfield (UE) marked example of the L1A1 has excellent metal work and black plastic furniture throughout. It is complete with correct hinged carry handle, winged fore sight, flip up rear sight, bayonet lug, sling swivels and composite butt plate. The frame has Enfield ‘UE’ marks alongside ‘61’ (1961 date). It is stamped ‘Rifle 7.62mm L1A1’. It is serial number ‘61A97178’ (illustrated). Deactivated to UK/EU specification in 2021 the weapon’s slide moves & the magazine which is dated ‘60’ (1960) can be removed. The price includes deactivation certificate and UK delivery. Sn 21356
