Circa 1800. This is a very good example of a British military Flintlock pistol carried by officers, with the “TOWER” mark stamped to the lock-plate, showing that it was manufactured at the Tower of London armoury. Broad arrow and a Crown over GR for George 111 is engraved on the lock plate. George the Third was King of England from 1760 to 1820 and was monarch during some of the most turbulent years in British military history, mainly due to the lengthy wars going on in the Peninsular campaigns against the French led by Napoleon Bonaparte, as well as the uprising against the British crown in the USA, known as the American Revolutionary War. Fully stocked in walnut with a standard steel ramrod, brass butt cap, side-plate, trigger guard and ramrod pipes. The 9 inch steel barrel with British proof marks and marked 14 LDs. The letters RL carved into the stock. Overall length 16 inches. Action in working order. In good overall condition. Ref 3152. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only.
