Description

Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref 3344. A rare Napoleonic era British military tower GR flintlock pistol. Circa 1800. This is a good example of a British military Flintlock pistol carried by officers, with the TOWER mark along with the crown and GR stamped to the lock-plate, showing that it was manufactured at the Tower of London armoury. Broad arrow and a Crown over GR for George 111 is engraved on the lock plate. George the Third was King of England from 1760 to 1820 and was monarch during some of the most turbulent years in British military history, mainly due to the lengthy wars going on in the Peninsular campaigns against the French led by Napoleon Bonaparte, as well as the uprising against the British crown in the USA, known as the American Revolutionary War. The brass trigger guard engraved with the initials W Y C (possibly for Worcester Yeomanry Cavalry which was formed in 1794). Brass butt cap, side-plate and trigger guard. Captive steel swivel ramrod. The 9 inch steel barrel marked with British proof marks. 1st T 50 engraved on the brass side plate. Overall length 15 inches. Nice crisp action. In good overall condition with some minor dings and scratches. Ref 3344. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only. No Licence is required in the United Kingdom. If you wish to purchase this item please visit our website andrewbottomley.com where you can pay by credit/debit card. Established 1968.
