The copper covered hilt fashioned in a traditional shape that was usual for a sixteenth century Swiss HOLBEIN style medieval dagger, with two embossed devils heads to the pommel. The copper covered scabbard embossed to both sides with a head of MEDUSU covered with snakes, as well as a devil's head to each side. Good double edged strong 17th century blade with letters stamped within the fullers. Complete with its original matching copper covered embossed scabbard. The scabbard tip terminating in snakes heads. Good condition. Overall length in scabbard 12 inches. Blade length 7 inches. Probably made circa 1870-1890. Ref 3578.
