Joseph BENTLEY was a very prolific gun-smith, he had a workshop in Birmingham and another work-shop at 12, South Castle Street, LIVERPOOL. circa 1840- 1850. The side-plates and and bar hammer engraved. Iron trigger guard. Birmingham proof marks to the 4 inch barrels. Wooden bag shaped grips. Action in working order. Some minor signs of wear and use, otherwise in overall good condition. This pepper-box is a most unusual and very rare item. Overall length 8.5 inches. Ref 3997.
