Its lineage is continued today by the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment. The Regiment served with distinction in all major conflicts involving British Armed Forces. This is an excellent, Victorian Officer's spike topped 1878 Pattern Home Service blue cloth helmet to the The King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. It has gilt metal cross piece, spike top and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed link chin chain. The front of the helmet bears the impressive Victorian Regiment brass & gilt helmet plate with red felt central background, Lion, Wreath, Garter Star, Queen Victoria Crown and Latin motto. The helmet plate is original with correct lug mounts. The helmet is complete with leather sweatband, stitched panel lining and red material with draw string (some of the hem stitching of the red material has perished with age but this could easily be repaired). The lining has a faint manufacturer's ink stamp which appears to be 'Coates & Co Pall Mall' (illustrated). It is approx. UK size 6 1/2 - 7. Price includes UK delivery. Sn 10247
