Create my profile now! This is an excellent Victorian era Bowie. The 12 ½” long, bowie has stag antler scales secured by pins. It has a German silver finger guard and 8” single edged, bowie blade. One side the blade is marked by the maker with partially visible ‘Humphreys & Croo’ Pall Mall (London), most likely Crook or Crooke ? There is no record of any cutlery business named Humphrey & Crook (Crooke ?) in either the London or Sheffield knife books. Humphrey & Co C1875 worked in both Sheffield and London but no reference is made to Humphrey & Co working with a cutler named Crook(e). There are several cutlers named Crooke recorded in London & the provinces but we cannot find a connection between any Crooke with Humphreys. The blade has areas of staining consistent with age. Its original open top leather scabbard has a rear belt loop. All leather & stitching of the scabbard are intact. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 19047
