SERIAL NUMBER: A1630 so probably 1968 or 1971,
please do your own research.
The word 'Supertarget' on the top is hidden by the later
added scope rail.
The original owner had the nickname 'Rambo or Squash' and was a
West Midlands based competition shooter for his hobby.
This was his pride and joy, hence the fitted case and badges.
Shoots great. Walnut Stock.
as 6yd and 10-metre indoor target shooting disciplines became popular around the 1970s. Webley responded to this and the imported competition from Anschutz and other German manufacturers by introducing the Webley Supertarget with an un-tapered barrel and, initially, Parker Hale PH17B aperture rear sight plus a tunnel foresight with 5 interchangeable elements hidden in the screw in holder under the butt and one in the foresight.
Manufactured by Webley & Scott Ltd in Birmingham
The rifle is in good condition the blueing on the barrel and action retains most of its original finish is very good.
The stock features nice grain with no splits or cracks there are the odd minor marks to the finish caused by usage over the years but nothing serious.
The rifle is complete with the Parker Hale PH17B micrometer aperture rear sight and the Parker Hale foresight the correct type for this model.
Fore of the tap is a lower section with an empty screwhole - I have no idea what was there, maybe a rear sight, the owner was an engineer maybe he had something there. See photo.
Note : the handmade case is not a rectangle its triangular :)
