Description

**WW2 D-DAY BRITISH PARATROOPER / GLIDER PILOT CONNECTIONS DIRECT FROM FAMILY**WW2 Army Air Corps Red Beret With AAC Cap Badge, WW2 Dog Tag To AAC 339576 Snelling & His 2nd Pattern WD B2 FS Commando Fighting Knife & Scabbard. Sn 21615 - 21615

The Army Air corps was formed in 1942. Members of the Corps were trained as Paratroopers & some were trained as Glider Pilots for the D-Day landings. Those that participated in Para training or were trained for glider 'Air landings' for D-Day landings were allowed to wear the coveted Red Beret of the Para Regiment. This is an excellent original Red Berret With Army Air Corps Badge, Fairbairn Sykes 2nd Pattern B2 WD Pattern Commando dagger and Dog Tag all to AAC, Para / Glider Pilot T. Snelling Service Number 339576 of the Army Air Corps (we have not researched the Soldier’s service history). All of the items are original, are new to the market, have not been on sale previously and were received directly from the soldier’s family. The Red Beret is in good clean condition with just a few small old cured moth holes. The beret is small size approx. UK size 6. It has the correct quilted lining with the Soldier’s service number in original red ink. The beret has the correct leather rim and is mounted with the original King’s Crown Metal Army Air Corps badge. The rear brass backing plate of the badge is stamped ‘Snelling. T’. His issued 2nd pattern FS Commando dagger is undamaged and in excellent condition. It has the correct knurled handle and blued 171mm long double edged blade with medial ridge. The cross guard is stamped with War Dept arrow and B2 designation. The dagger is complete with original leather scabbard with external blackened brass chape and belt loop. The scabbard retains its original 4 sewn on leather tabs and as is common its elastic retaining strap is absent. Tied to the hilt of the dagger is his original WW2 issue Dog tag crisply impressed with name, service number and Regiment designation. The price for this historic combination all to a Soldier who served in the WW2 D-day landings and worthy of further research includes UK delivery. Sn 21615
