Description

~ WW2 German War Pictures Collection of Flak, RAD and various other ~

This is a collector’s album comprising of a series of pictures with FLAK (Anti-Aircraft) units fighting mainly on the Eastern Front, pictures of the locals, pictures of the RAD labor’s corps both male and female, Hitler Youth, Glider Corps, Luftshutz and some other units.

As a bonus, the collector added a number of period post stamps making referral to the particular corps presented in the pictures.

Overall, a very unique and valuable collection totalising 184 pictures.

Please mid the fact that the pictures do not present the album in its entirety, but are only a mere representation of it.

The Anti-Aircraft set shows the evolution of the Flak corps where soldiers fight at the beginning of the war with single 20mm cannons and 88mm cannons gradually upgrading to multiple 20mm cannons, some mounted on trucks and half-track vehicles. Also gradually can be seen how the AA 88mm cannon is being deployed in an anti-tank role by the Luftwaffe.

A number of pictures depict the SdKfz 10 series half-tracks with their crews defending positions in Russia.

Some of the most interesting pictures in the collection are the ones presenting the Russian peasants and the way in which the soviet countryside looked like back in 1941: old men still wearing their tsarist soldier’s tunics, children on bare feet smoking, aspects of hope and despair, villages on fire and many others.

There are a number of very interesting personal collections of characters evolving from Hitler youth to enlisted soldiers in various military units, following their military path imposed by the Nazi regime back in the day. Couple of these young men are presented with their parents, officers themselves.

The Hitler Youth and female organisations are presented during their summer camp training programs as are the RAD members.
