Create my profile now!Firstly the 2nd Class ‘Lutschutz-Ehrenzeichen’ Medal. The Air Warden Honour Award (Luftschutz-Ehrenzeichen) is instituted on 30 January 1938 and was awarded for bravery during and directly after Allied air raids. This medal was instituted in two classes and both classes were designed by Egon Jantke of Berlin. The Air Warden Honour Award was not only reserved for the members of the Luftschutz (Air Raid Precautions) but could also be awarded to factory guards, fire fighters, police ect. The golden cross of the 1st Class is only 150 times awarded during the entire war and was only awarded for extraordinary bravery and service for the protection of the German civil population. Measuring 9 ½ cm from the base of the medal to the tip if the ribbon and 4 cm at its wides point. The ribbon is in excellent condition. The medal is stamped ‘Für Verdienste Im Luftschutz’ (For Merit in Air Defense)to the front and ‘1938’ to the rear. Also in this set is dated 1941 ‘Reichsluftschutzbund’ I.D. book and armband for ‘Daimler-Benz’ A.G. Flugmotoren Stuttgart Luftschutz unit. These were obtained from a market in Belgium directly from the family of the serviceman. A really nice collectable set. The price includes U.K. delivery. N 85.
