Create my profile now!The introduction of a spadroon hilted Officer’s sword within the British infantry regiments was soon copied by the Royal Navy. These Naval swords are exceptionally rare and few survive (see page 238 of Wither’s book World Swords where similar C1800 spadroon type British Naval swords are illustrated. Our example has a brass guard and ball top pommel cap. The correct grooved ebony hilt is mounted on one side with a brass shield featuring a typical Naval fouled anchor device. It has a 29 ¼” long fullered, single edged straight steel blade (35” overall). The blade has staining consistent with age and a few small nibbles to the cutting edge consistent with age and use. There are no visible maker or date marks. AS is typical this sword is without scabbard. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 19225
